We’re proud to announce our 2026 Senior Coaching Group. A combined group with nearly 1,400 games of combined senior experience, multiple premierships, and an unmatched passion for developing our players and club.
Together, we are committed to turning things around through hard work, development, and high standards both on and off the field. We’re excited to see what we can achieve as a club in 2026.

⚫️ Senior Coach – Jack Leslie
With AFL and VFL experience, plus 80 senior games for Sale, Jack understands what it takes to perform at the highest level. After a recent knee reconstruction, he’ll be a non-playing coach for the 2026 season and returning to play the following year. This allows him to dedicate all his energy to developing our players and setting elite standards across the program. His clear vision and drive for improvement will set the tone for what’s ahead.

⚪️ Backline – Jamie Sweeney
Passionate about building a backline that’s a team within a team, organised, and capable of launching our attack from turnover. With 167 senior games, two premierships, and a deep understanding of Sale’s culture, Sweens brings a calm and experienced voice to the defensive group. Expect great structure, clear communication from this group.

⚫️ Midfield – Kane Martin
We’re excited to announce the return of Muzz and his family back to the Nest who will take on the reins as our midfield coach for 2026. A 200+ gamer, league best and fairest winner and dual premiership player, Muzz knows what elite midfield standards look like. He’s eager to work closely with our developing group of mids to lift their games and drive competition. With some recent departures, there’s opportunity for others to step up and take ownership as a midfield group.

⚪️ Forward Line – Shane Fyfe & Jordan Dessent (Playing Assistant)
Six-Time-Fyfe will be huge for our forwards with his 300+ games, premiership experience and still playing a selfless development role in the reserves. Fyfey is focused on helping our forwards grow by building structure, confidence, and a faster, more aggressive attack.

Jord also joins as Forward Playing Assistant still adding to his 187 senior games and premiership experience. He’s committed to using his skill, leadership, and experience to help our forwards perform at their best whilst out on the ground.

⚪️ Senior Leadership – Chris Laverty
Lar continues to be the heart and soul of the club. With nearly 400 games over 25+ years, two premierships, and an unmatched commitment to the Sale FNC, his influence across both seniors and development will be invaluable. He’ll play a major role in selection, leadership, and player growth. He will also help to raise standards, drive competition for spots, and bring the best out of everyone in the squad.

⚫️ U16s Coach – Ashton Wright
Since joining the club at the start of 2025, Ashton has shown outstanding commitment and buy-in. Extremely level-headed and a great leader, he’s well-placed to develop our under-16s. Aligning closely with the senior coaching group, Ashton will help bring high standards, structure, and development focus to the team. With previous football experience at WAFL level and coaching across numerous junior programs, we’re excited to see what he can achieve with the group.

Together, this group brings experience, dedication, and a deep connection to Sale Football Netball Club. We are ready to drive success in 2026 and beyond!

Julie is a coach who demands accountability while creating an environment where players can back themselves and play with confidence. Her leadership will be important in shaping the culture of our A Grade group and pushing the team to keep improving throughout the season.

⚪️ B Grade & U17s – Candice Johnson

Candice Johnson will take charge of both B Grade and U17s, giving her an important role across two key stages of our netball pathway. ⚪️ U15s – Janelle Stothers

Janelle Stothers takes on the U15s coaching role, where developing the basics and building good habits will be a major focus. Janelle will work with the group to strengthen their understanding of the game, encourage teamwork and help each player become more confident in their own ability. It’s an important age group in the club pathway, and Janelle will help prepare these players for the next stage of their netball journey.

⚫️ U13s – Ellie Laws & Julie Gerrand

Ellie Laws and Julie Gerrand will share the coaching duties for our U13s in 2026. At this age, it’s all about creating a love for the game while teaching players the skills and understanding they need to keep progressing. Ellie and Julie will bring plenty of enthusiasm to the group and help our youngest netballers build confidence, learn to work as a team and most importantly, enjoy pulling on the black and white.

Together, our 2026 netball coaching group covers every stage of our pathway, from U13s through to A Grade. Each coach brings their own strengths, personality and approach, but all share the same goal — to help our players improve, challenge themselves and enjoy being part of Sale Football Netball Club. We’re looking forward to seeing what they can achieve in 2026!
